Get to know Vela

I started Velamarine to continue on the wealth of knowledge and skill from Windcraft, specialising in the repair and maintenance of Hanse, Dehler and Moody yachts, although we now service and maintain all makes and models.

I have a diverse range of practical skills and a keen interest in the marine industry, as well as gaining a Master's Degree in Science. I hold Day Skipper, VHF Operator and Marine Engine Maintenance qualifications as well as PADI Advanced SCUBA Diver certification. I have completed my SLC qualifications and strive to continually upskill. With a strong knowledge of industry regulations including EWOF, gas certification and COLREGS. I am also a certified B&G / Simrad installer.

I have owned many boats including power boats and yachts and currently own a Chico 40; we are regular "cruisers" on the Hauraki Gulf and beyond with my wife and 2 boys.

I believe strong customer communication is paramount, along with diligent attention to detail. Finally, I am committed in treating every customer's boat with the same love and care as I do my own.
